North Lakes State College is unique in that it is a growing school, which encompasses a Prep to Year 12 campus. It includes a main campus of Prep to Year 9 and a separate Urban Learning Centre for Years 10 to 12. Year 10, at North Lakes is seen as the start of the senior learning journey and the senior phase of learning encompasses Years 10,11 and 12.
Students undertaking senior education at North Lakes State College do so with the opportunity to utilise excellent trade standard learning environments. We have industry standards workshops for our Engineering, Industrial Graphics and Furnishing courses. Our Hospitality kitchens also encompass a restaurant and formal dining area. The science labs are well equipped and the business rooms have separate areas to run small business skills and models.
Our students' senior schooling is enriched by the potential of multiple providers delivering learning programs within the one location. Our students negotiate and develop their own senior program utilising the unique opportunities afforded by the one point delivery of Senior Schooling, TAFE and other registered training programs, all within highly specialised and localised facilities.
It is the College’s belief that students direct their own learning journey. Because of this we offer a number of pathways for students to select. Students in senior, can undertake early entry into a number of university courses, enrol in TAFE subjects, complete certificate courses offered on campus or undertake school based apprenticeships.
We support students to decide their career path through the help of a large network including guidance officer, school based nurse and a chaplain.
The advantage for North Lakes is the concept of P-12 seamless learning, Three phases of learning, One College, which enables a seamless transition across the phases of learning from early, to middle to senior in the one educational precinct.
