Honours Program 2017

Our College commitment is to provide our students with pathways for excellence. The Honours program will be offered in Maths, Science, Humanities and English and will continue to enhance this commitment for Junior Secondary.
Each Honours class will have an element of student negotiated curriculum focusing on more complex problem solving and higher order thinking skills. English and Humanities classes will use more complex and sophisticated case studies and scenarios to apply deeper knowledge learnt.
Maths and Science classes will focus on applying problem solving skills to deepen your use of logic to solve complex investigations and scenarios. Participation in State and National subject specific competitions will also be a focus for some subject areas.
In order to enter an Honours class, you must have completed an Application form with supporting documentation submitted to Client Services as detailed on the timeline below.
Testing will be conducted; where you will sit the AGAT test and then subsequent assessment for consideration to enter each of the subject areas of choice. Each subject application costs $15.00 with the 4th one being free of charge. Payment must be received prior to the testing date for students to sit the relative exam papers. In the event that an exam won’t be occurring, a refund for the payment of that exam will be credited to your school fees statement.
