Focus on STEM

The College has been invited to participate in an exciting University Research Project being led by the University of Tasmania. The research project is designed to improve the capacity of Principals to lead STEM programs, and improve student’s experiences in the important STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The research project will involve surveying students across Years 7 - 10, to gain an understanding of what students think and feel about STEM subjects. Ms Kim Williams, Head of Campus Year 7 - 9, is the College Principal leading the research project at North Lakes State College.
We would like to invite your child’s participation in the research project: Principals as STEM Leaders – Building the Evidence Base for Improved STEM Learning (PASL). The project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training, under the Inspiring all Australians in Digital Literacy – Embracing the Digital Age measure of the National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA).
Detailed information about the project, along with parental consent forms, will be emailed to parents of all Year 7 - 10 students soon. We would greatly appreciate your support of this important work by consenting to your child’s participation.
